RURAL COMMUNITIES
DESIGN INITIATIVE
Pateros WA VISION
This poster graphically expresses community ideas in the form of a conceptual plan. This plan is intended to show the “broad strokes”
or big ideas that came out of community discussions. This plan is intended to generate more discussion about how to develop the downtown area of the city.
The major drivers for this plan are:
-
Attracting people from Highway 97 heading north and get them to come to downtown Pateros instead of turning west to Twisp and other western communities.
-
Draw people from Highway 97 going to and from Brewster.
-
Provide a “destination” experience for both the citizens and visitors in the downtown area.
-
Provide more opportunities for year round activities f or citizens and visitors.
The Rural Communities Design Initiative [RCDI] operates through the School of Design and Construction at Washington State University. RCDI provides a written and visual summary of the community’s vision, in preparation for the next step of engaging qualified design, planning and construction firms for bringing a community vision to reality. Documents provided by RCDI are for conceptual purposes only. The documents and drawings are intended to facilitate discussion, not for use in construction.
